How we approach it

Outdoor tiling is not indoor tiling moved outside. The tiles must be made for outdoor use, non-slip where they get wet, and able to cope with strong sun and large temperature changes. Lighter colours stay cooler underfoot; very dark stone around a pool can become uncomfortable in summer.

The common options are outdoor porcelain (thick slabs, consistent and easy to clean), natural stone (warm look, needs sealing and some care) and interlock pavers (practical for driveways and paths, easy to repair). Each one needs the right base: correct slopes so water runs away from the house and the pool, expansion joints, and adhesive or bedding suited to outdoor use.

Tiling often ties a project together: the pool coping and deck, the step from the living room to the terrace, the path to the pergola or BBQ. We plan levels and drainage with the rest of the garden so everything joins cleanly.

Working in Tilal Al Ghaf

Tilal Al Ghaf is a Majid Al Futtaim community of villas and townhouses around a lagoon. Many homes are recent, so owners often design the outdoor area from the start.

Why owners in Tilal Al Ghaf choose us

Dubai has no shortage of contractors, so it is fair to ask who you are dealing with. Europeans are part of our team, alongside our local team members: you get European know-how and finish quality at Dubai market prices. You receive a clear written quote that you accept online, with materials from Europe and Saudi Arabia named on it; the works are carried out and invoiced by our partner contractor, also named on the quote. One person follows your project until handover, in English, French or Arabic.

What affects the price

  • Area to tile and complexity of the layout
  • Tile type and format: porcelain, natural stone, interlock

  • Access and protection of the house during the works

We do not publish standard prices: every villa is different. After the free visit, you receive a written quote with each item and product named.

Approvals and NOC

Re-tiling an existing terrace is often treated as a minor work, but changing levels, extending paved areas or working on the pool deck may need a permit from the developer or community management. Rules differ between communities; we check what applies in Tilal Al Ghaf before planning the works.

Most Dubai master communities require an NOC or permit from the developer or community management for pools, pergolas and structural works. Requirements, documents and timing vary between communities and can change, so we check them for your villa before the works are planned.

Frequently asked questions

Which outdoor tiles stay coolest in the Dubai sun?

Lighter colours and some natural stones stay noticeably cooler than dark tiles. We show you samples and talk about where you walk barefoot, especially around the pool.

Are outdoor tiles slippery around the pool?

They should not be: tiles around a pool must have a suitable slip-resistance rating. In wet areas we only propose tiles rated for that use.

Can new tiles be laid over my old terrace in Tilal Al Ghaf?

Sometimes, if the old surface is sound and flat and the added height does not cause problems at doors and drains. Often it is better to remove it. We check at the visit.

Porcelain, stone or interlock?

Porcelain is consistent and easy to clean; stone has a natural look but needs sealing; interlock is practical for driveways and paths. Many gardens combine them.
